Handmade End-Grain Cutting Boards
Welcome to my collection of premium end-grain cutting boards, designed and handmade in my Edinburgh workshop. I believe a cutting board should make mealtime prep easy and pleasant, and last for a long time.
Why Wood? Wood has natural antimicrobial properties that inhibit the growth of bacteria, making it more hygenic than plastic; you also avoid adding more microplastics from plastic cutting boards. In any case, a wooden board looks better - it ages with character, adding warmth and natural texture to your countertop – for sure it won’t be unnoticed by your guests! The wood I use is all sustainably sourced, from Scottish suppliers.
Why End-Grain? End-grain construction is the professional standard for a reason. By orienting the wood fibres vertically, the board allows the blade of your knife to slide between the fibres rather than cutting across them. This "self-healing" quality keeps your knives sharper for longer and ensures your board resists deep cuts.
Materials & Craftsmanship: Every board is handcrafted using sustainably sourced wood obtained from fully certified local suppliers. I only use food-safe materials, from the premium wood glue to my in-house finish.
