A Closer Look

This post offers a closer look at my work.

Each piece of my furniture is crafted to not only stand out on its own but also to sit comfortably among the whole. When creating these designs, the choice of wood is paramount – the grain of the wood serves as an intricate narrative. Different types of wood exhibit distinct grains and textures that significantly influence the final appearance of each piece. Oak, for example, offers a robust feel with its prominent grains, while walnut presents a deeper tone that adds elegance. The careful examination of these qualities ensures that each design is not only visually appealing but also resonates with the overall vision.

These pieces are designed with people in mind, they're sturdy and suited to family living. Every element, from the grain of the wood to the precision of the joints, contributes to the overall experience of the design. My desk, made from black walnut, is a good example of this combination of aesthetic appeal and usability.

Its key feature is its non-typical, organic design. Soft curves make long hours working more comfortable. A large surface space means nothing is cramped upon the work-surface, and ample storage (both exposed and hidden in drawers) make it practical.
